Breath of Magic A Novel Lennox Family Magic Teresa Medeiros Books
Arian Whitewood, an enchantress from seventeenth-century Massachusetts collides with a future beyond her imagining... and with Tristan Lennox, a handsome cynic who's about to learn a lesson in the power of love... This book was originally released in 1996 and is book 1 of 2 in the "Lennox Family Magic" series. The other is titled "Touch of Enchantment" and is Arian and Tristan's daughters story.I adore Teresa Medeiros and have read many of her romances, but I don't think BREATH OF MAGIC is one of her best efforts. I was really looking forward to it, as it has many of the elements I enjoy; including a blend of historical, paranormal, and fantasy. And although this story does have its witty moments, it just seemed to lack something and I simply thought it was a little dull and slow going at times.
My main problem with the book however was the hero. While I liked Arian who was sweet, charming, and brave; I did not like Tristan at all. For three-quarters of the story he was a flat-out jerk and entirely too cynical and demanding. I saw nothing and no reason as to why Arian would fall in love with him and I also didn't sense a deep connection or feel any true passion or chemistry between them.
With that being said, it does have some redeeming qualities and charming side characters. I especially loved Tristan's best friend "Cop" and the huge bodyguard Sven who was thoroughly endearing. Overall though I just didn't feel Tristan was at all lovable and he nearly ruined this book for me. Still, I think Ms. Medeiros is a great author and would recommend reading it so you can form your own opinion.

Breath of Magic A Novel Lennox Family Magic Teresa Medeiros Books Reviews
The name Medeiros means good reading fun. I'd recommend her.
Not my favorite by Teresa Medeiros, but it was light-hearted and fun. The hero is a bit inconsistent and I wanted to smack him over the head more than once, but he does always come through.
Mederios has her usual flare with writing. The story had some really good parts and had lots of potential something was missing. I just didn't buy into the whole *spoiler alert* thing about Arian's father listing after her. It all seemed very contrived. Just saying.
This story is a refreshing treat. I was drawn into the story right away. I admit to losing too much sleep because I was reading.
The story is as light and funny as it is romantic. The historically sections lacked some accuracy, but it helped to move the scene. (Puritans didn't have buttons. They were considered a sign of vanity.)
I love Nora Roberts books about witches. I enjoy the intelligent portrayal of her characters. I was looking for another author to read. This book was childish. And, with the rich getting richer in America at the expense of the middle class, I despised this dudes electric tie rack. There is more to life the having stuff. It is fine to have a character be wealthy; it's the detailed celebration of the wealthy that turned me off.
Standard time-travel romance with a bit of magic. Witch Arian flies (literally) into the arm of reclusive billionaire Tristan who has waged a million dollars that magic isn’t real. This one missed the mark for me. For someone who hails from the 17th century, Arian accepts modern wonders too easily. Tristan is a dolt and a bit of an a@@. The writing was too lackluster to make the relationship work. The ‘twist’ of the source of the magic was ridiculous. Funniest line was on page 4 “Within the chest of every cynic beats the heart of a disillusioned optimist.” Where is the spell to escape this series?
Breath of magic had an interesting storyline. The heroine was very likeable, but the hero was jaded and often acted the jerk. There were some very entertaining twists, that kept me reading. Without the magic, time travel, and other things I won't reveal, I may have given up on it, as I wasn't able to fall in love with the hero of the story. I'd love to see another novel featuring a supporting character, Cop.
