When Kevin finds Sarah stranded by the side of the road, he’s more than willing to give her a ride. Young, beautiful and distraught—she’s everything a single guy could ask for in a girl. What he doesn’t know is that she already has a guy an abusive, drunken boyfriend who left her there in a fit of rage. And when that boyfriend comes back and finds Sarah missing, a simple ride will turn deadly.
Like Josh Gaylord and Daniel Kraus before him, author Erik Therme explores the angst of disconnected youth in his enthralling and powerful Roam. Therme’s darkly tinged novel is an unforgettable tale of three errant souls brutalized by life’s cruel circumstances, and a remarkable night of discovery and violence that will change them forever.

5 out of 5 stars
The story Roam by Erik Therme is a suspenseful thriller of a book. It spotlights three people who by the end of the night find themselves in a situation that will change their lives forever. First, you have Sarah. It is her birthday which should be a happy time for her, unfortunately, it takes a dark turn when her car breaks down and her drunken boyfriend is no help at all. Sarah is a character that you can really empathize with. She is in a bad relationship and doesn’t have the best home life. The situation that she finds herself in this one night seems intolerable. Then she meets Kevin. Kevin is an aspiring writer who stops to help Sarah and is drawn to her. He feels a strong connection and is determined to help her out. Kevin has had a hard home life as well. He is not close to his father and is at a crossroads in his life when he meets Sarah. The trio is complete when you meet Scotty. He is a friend of Sarah’s and is having a very bad night. He also has his own inner demons he is battling.
This story will have you entranced from the first chapter to the last page. I was turning pages on a mission to find out what would happen next. I enjoyed the talks that Kevin and Sarah had. They are both curious about each other and are constantly giving details of their life to each other. The book is told from Kevin, Sarah, and Scotty’s POV. There are times in this book when I would stop for a minute and say, “Did that just happen?” I love when a book has just the right atmosphere that you get goosebumps when reading and this book does just that. Make sure that when you start you have the entire afternoon to read as you will not want to put it down. This is the third book I have read by the author and each one just keeps getting better. The book does have adult language and situations which would make this a book for those 18 years of age or older.

Roam edition by Erik Therme Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
A very different type of mystery, making it an amazing read. The ending was a complete surprise, but a single action by Sebrina reveals the real story. You must read it, I will not give it away. This is really a fantastic story and the author has done a perfect job of writing a great mystery.
A few more books as good as his first three puts Erik Therme in a class with Dean Knootz. A different kind of characters, variety of plots , and you know as soon as a new book comes out you are going to want to read it just for the pleasure. Anyone looking for quality downtime; just pick an Erik Therme book and exercise your mind while enjoying every minute of it. Another plus is not having to read these books in order.
This book takes place over the span of a few hours and has a lot going on in that time frame. The characters were as developed as they could be in such a short novel and the pace of the book moved along well. Focused more on the plot and the characters and did not get bogged down in overly descriptive language. The dialog seemed realistic as well. That said, it did seem to be for a young adult audience but was an enjoyable read.
What are people really thinking? Walk among the crowds; people wear so many masks blank faced, smiling, scowling, perturbed. Each is the star actor in their own drama, maybe happy or miserable about the status of their life or that a certain person is, or is not, in their life.
Erik Therme has written a masterful study exploring inner thoughts, fears, turmoil and confusion. Some of his characters are deeply lost and floundering; you fear they will never find themselves. You may find their mental confusion familiar; hopefully that will be helpful. Will the human spirit prevail? Is hope sufficient to help our heroes achieve their dreams? There is a twist in the plot. I cannot guarantee you will like it but if you have any interest in the mysteries of the human psyche, I highly recommend Erik Therme's "Roam".
This book was satisfactory, actually only 3 stars, but I gave it an extra for cleverness. This book was so weird. It's basically composed of alternating scenes suggesting a romance, but there's a supernatural force lurking in the book as well, suggesting horror. So I guess that makes this a horror/ romance. The most appealing part for me, were the alternating scenes, and the dialogue.
The characters are young, in their early 20's. Also, there's not much action until about 50- 60% through. The scenes carry the story.
I think that I only spent a couple of bucks on this one, and I really enjoyed the somewhat singular scenes. If you're up for some mindless reading, this is a go.
I had very high hopes for this story, the blurb made it sound like a fast paced twisted story. The beginning started to draw me in, but after that I found it hard to really stay focused and finish the book. I enjoyed the cut of the very end, it gave an interesting perspective, but it was a long journey to get there. The book became a wild goose chase of a story with jumbled character lines.
The description of this book really caught my interest “When three lives intersect in an unsavory hotel with a bloody history, each will struggle to exorcise their personal demons, unaware that a bigger threat is looming. . . and waiting for the right moment to strike.” Unfortunately, the story never lived up to this description. I found it boring and difficult to read because I absolutely couldn’t connect with any of the characters and didn’t care what happened to them. At the end, I was still waiting for the “bigger threat” that was supposedly “looming”.
