James Oliver Curwood was a pioneering figure in the action-adventure genre. Over the course of his career, he penned dozens of novels and stories that detailed the exploits of rugged outlaws and misfits who roamed the foreboding woods of northern Canada. In The Hunted Woman, a beautiful lass finds herself at the center of a raging feud.

I, too, was searching for free reads and stumbled upon James Oliver Curwood. I already have read 16 of his books that are free and fear the day that I run out of James' writing...I have even done a fiction analysis for a Written Communication course through college, on his "The Courage of Marge O' Doone."As a lover of the far North, I cannot get enough of Mr. Curwood's stories! Things change very very slowly up in the Arctic and you can rest assured that much of the same description of life in the North continues on in the current day. When Mr. Curwood gave up hunting animals for sport and starting writing about them as the beautiful living, thinking, feeling beings that they are, he expanded his depth of creative writing to an amazing apex. I have cried over several of his 'animal' stories, ie. "Baree, Son of Kazan," "The Grizzly King," "Kazan." and, my last read, "Nomads of the North. A Story of Romance." Richly heartwarming...Well done, Mr. Curwood, and thank you for your contribution to visual writing!! RIP

James Oliver Curwood The Hunted Woman James Oliver Curwood Books Reviews
Another great story from Curwood! Full of intrigue and the final fight to the death betwen the heartless villians and the softhearted good guys. The sweet love story that binds it all together makes this a great and enjoyable read. Can't wait for tge next one!
They are always cliff hangers!
Enjoyable read. Didn't know Curwood had it in him! His description of Joanne had me curious. By the end I was somewhat envious of Aldou! But that's what makes a good adventure...gold, romance, friendships and riding off into the sunset! Well done Mr Curwood.
I was searching for free stuff on my kindle when I ran into this book. Thought I would give it a try. It was fantastic, easy reading. Had forgotten that the authors of the past were very good writers. Even though this was written long ago it was entertaining and hard to put down.
I got the book as two characters were based on my great great uncle Fred Stephens and his son. The story was reminiscent of stories I read by Jack London about life in the far north. A girl and some bad guys along with some good guys and a pot of gold. are key. I enjoyed the read.
James Oliver Curwood died too young! He was a great author and I have purchased all 32 of his books and have read them all either on my kindle or through the books I have bought. Why did I purchase all of his books you may ask????? Well, I enjoy loaning them out and will be passing all 32 novels along to my grandson in another three or four years when he'll be more likely able to understand and enjoy them, He is nine years old and likes outdoor adventure. He takes after his father and "Papa"! I liked the book. It had some words that required my using the dictionary option in my , but I like to learn new words. Nowadays, seldom does an author challenge us to upgrade our vocabulary. This was written at about the turn of the last century by a Michigan man who was one of the country's most popular authors. The story is interesting about a woman who travelled alone to the Canadian Northwest and what transpires once she gets to the mining town. I'll most likely read another of his books; as a child I read his dog story Kazan and loved it. I'd recommend you give Curwood's books a try, get to know what your grandparents or great-grandparents enjoyed. Compare the writing of today with that of yesteryear.
